Intersectional Analysis to Advance Equity in Hong Kong

Our Research Aim
The aim of the study is to investigate and understand the intersecting inequalities experienced by Hong Kong secondary school students in order to advance equity in the education system. The study aims to analyze how demographic characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status intersect and influence educational inequalities among secondary school students. By conducting a two-phase mixed-methods research design involving a territory-wide survey and qualitative interviews in three case study schools, the study seeks to provide a nuanced understanding of inequality in local schooling experiences. The ultimate goal is to inform the development of more responsive and targeted strategies to address educational inequality and support diverse students in Hong Kong secondary schools.
